China has started demolishing the worlds largest Buddhist monastery at Larung Gar. There is an online petition here where you can help to let the United Nations know that you disapprove of what is happening. With online petitions it is somewhat hit or miss, but it can't hurt to add your name to the list of world wide signatures.

Already a nun at the academy has committed suicide in protest of their actions and many monks and nuns are now homeless. You can see the utter destruction of one hill side in a photo located here. Photos are hard to come by because China doesn't allow the media to enter the site where they are slowly dismantling this amazing place.

How Long Should You Meditate?

Created: Tuesday, 02 August 2016

Should we meditate for hours on end every day?  Here is a quote that gives some insight into the duration of meditation sessions.

"We don't have to exhaust ourselves with our meditation, with our practice. It is something that as practitioners we should be mindful of - that we practice until our mind is comfortable and take care not to exhaust the body, to take some short breaks in between, but then to continue practicing. In this way, it is much more fruitful. Later on, when you get very comfortable with the meditation and the practice, of course, you can extend but otherwise it is much better with short sessions."
